Today is the perfect day for me to go into a little more detail about why fashion is so important to me in my daily life; why it truly is my sanity. My major in school is extremely grueling and time consuming. It is perfectly common for myself and my classmates to be up into the extremely wee hours of the morning working on our studio projects. It is a completely normal occurrence to hear someone ask "did you sleep last night?" and today, my answer was "no."
Technically, I got a 30 minute nap on the floor of the studio space with my jacket for a pillow and my scarf for a blanket, but that doesn't really count for much. I walked home from studio at 9 this morning, wearing the same clothes as yesterday, hair thrown into a bun on the top of my head, eyes bleary. I passed two of my roommates on their way out to start their day as I was getting ready to end mine.
On nights when I don't get much or any sleep, fashion becomes that much more important. After an all-nighter, I always insist on taking a shower and putting on an especially great outfit. Even if I feel like a zombie, a nice outfit makes me look 10 times better, and when I know I look good, I feel better. Plus, a cool outfit distracts people from looking at my puffy eyes.
This post is getting a little long, but I just have to talk about these boots. I bought them at a thrift store a month or so back, brand new, for only $8. I nearly died and went to thrift heaven when I saw the price tag. Today was the first time I wore them, and I am absolutely in love. You can expect to be seeing a lot more of them this fall/winter.
